Do you have a Vaillant boiler error code problem?

Do you have a Vaillant boiler? If so, and if it’s acting up, this list of Vaillant models and their error codes could help you to discover what’s wrong.

Why not have a scan through and see if you can spot your Vaillant error code? If you can’t, you can get in touch at Herofix.com to book a 15-minute video call to diagnose the fault. Even if you can find your code below, our team of professionals is on hand to discuss your boiler and how to repair it.

Before we go any further, there’s one quick warning… You are not permitted to take off a boiler’s case, remove any parts or unscrew any panels unless you are a Gas Safe engineer. Doing so could be immensely dangerous.

Vaillant boilers we have covered in this error code list:

Vaillant Error Codes F28 and F29

If your Vaillant boiler is showing either error code F28 or F29, then the condensate pipe has frozen and you will need to thaw it. This issue can occur during winter, as the pipe runs outside, but you can resolve it fairly easily. You can simply thaw the pipe, without the need to call out an engineer.

Vaillant Error Codes F28 and F29

ErrorPossible CauseMeaning
F.00NTC FaultsThis means that your Flow NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistor) cable is either defective or broken and needs to be replaced
F.01NTC FaultsThe Flow NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistor) cable is either defective or broken and needs to be replaced
F.10NTC Faults
F.11NTC Faults
F.13NTC Faults
F.20Boiler has exceeded the maximum temperature and needs to cool down
F.22Dry fire / Low water in system / OverheatThis means that there’s either no water in your system, you have a defective pump or the pump lead is defective
F.24Low water / Pump Failure / BlockagePump could be obstructed, running at low capacity, could be air trapped or the pressure might be too low.
F.28Either insufficient gas in the system, a defective electrode, ignition lead or electronic ignitor
F.29Flame extinguishedFlame or pilot light has gone out – check flue duct or gas supply.
F.60Gas valve control defectiveCable loom (connects gas valve) might have short circuited, gas valve assembly defective or electronic control system issue.
F.61Gas valve control defectiveCable loom (connects gas valve) might have short circuited, gas valve assembly defective or electronic control system issue.
F.62Defective gas valve closure mechanismBoiler has exceeded the maximum temperature and needs to cool down
F.63EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) errorElectronic fault.
F.64Electronic system or sensor faultFlow or back flow NTC has short circuited, or an electronic fault
F.65Electronic system temperature too highThis can happen because of an external heat source or an electrical fault
F.67Electronic fault in the flame system
