Common shower problems
A faulty or leaking shower isn’t always obvious, whether it’s an electric shower, mixer tap or thermostatic shower. Here are some of the most popular shower problems:
No hot water
Leaking shower valve
No water from an electric shower
Shower leaking to downstairs
Shower going hot and cold
It is crucial to fix any shower problems quickly because a leaking shower could cause a lot of damage and be expensive. A shower with temperature problems will get worse, and it is unlikely you or other people in your house will be happy with a cold shower.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my shower go hot and cold?
If your shower is electric, it could be blocked up inside with limescale. With a thermostatic shower, it is likely that the thermostatic cartridge has failed.
How do I know if my shower is leaking?
The first step is to record when the leak happens, and if it is, when the shower is being used.
If a damp patch becomes worse or water drips through a ceiling only when you use the shower, then bingo.
Next, you need to systematically spray water on different parts of the shower to see where the water is coming from, or not as the case may be.
Why does my shower keep running after I turn it off?
The flow switch, flow valve or diverter valve, depending on which type of shower you have has failed and needs replacing. If the shower is very old, then it may be best to change the whole shower.
